NIKOM-VOLGA elevator complex is situated in so-called Volga German area. Historically, enterprise traces its roots in 1892 when the first big mill was built here by German businessman Borel. Except Russia, his flour was exported to England and France. Up to now the mill has come in the form of museum.
As a result of nationalization of 20th of XX century, former Borel’s mill becamea milling plant no.5. The object was electrified, new storehouses were built for 16 000 tons of flour and the capacity rose up to 30 000 tons of flour annually.
In 80thof XX century the big Fodder Factory was built near the Borel’s mill. Capacity of the factory was about 6 carloads a day. Its production was exported to Poland, DDR, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria. Appearance of the factory allowed to turn the milling plant no.5 into bread baking complex with 19 millions Soviet Ruble annual turnover.
As USSR ruined,economic ties had ruined as well and the Fodder Factory felt to decay. In 2001 the enterprise was bought by present owner. It was modified to storage crops, oil plant and production of grits. Eight floor building of former fodder factory and old machinery was removed from operation.
From 2001 to 2003 during modernization there was restored: silos of elevator storage,ground-level storages, drying and transporting equipment, automatic grainreceiving units, auto and railway shipment and auto and railway weightings. Newly assembled: arched ground-level storage for 5 000 tons.
Last year tendencies in the region shows the movement of agricultural production to the export of oil plan and combined feed development. Present owner has the main business direction as buckwheat production in Central Russia and he doesn’t plan to go in for oil plan or combined feed business.
During the last couple of years, main clients of the enterprise such as “Yug Rusi” (http://eng.goldenseed.ru) and “Aston” (http://www.aston.ru/en/) have used the infrastructure ofthe enterprise for processing or operative storage.
The enterprise is cost friendly, level ofsalaries in the Region is lower than in others. Deterioration of equipment islower 40%.
