Olympics without Totilas?
January 22, 11:52"Die Welt" wrote recently that Totilas has been considered as a safe Olympic Champion 2012, but now speculations about "Wunderhengst Totilas" would participate in the Olympics at all, had started to grow. The speculations had started to appear after Totilas shortly before the World Cup in Frankfurt had to withdrawn due to an injury and subsequent to expectation was also not ready for the prestigious and highly doped competition in Palm Breach, Florida.
Paul Schockemöhle commented in relation to the withdrawn from Palm Beach, that the team had chosen to focus on getting the stallion ready for the Olympics.
Dressage has evolved tremendously in recent years and it is "muzzle hair" that separates the best in the top. A single misstep could cost the victory. And yet Totilas seems to be raised above them all.
An Olympics without Totilas will be a poorer Olympics from the perspective of a dressage lover and a sporting point of view, but it will, said with the hand over heart, intensifies the battle for medals. Although Totilas and Matthias is a "new" pair, then there is no doubt that their points will blade well on the German team account.
At Europeam Championship the stage was set for the usual team-gold-struggle between The Netherlands and Germany, but the British surprised everyone and everything by taking the gold in front of the Germans (silver) and the Dutch (bronze). The three nations will probably also to fight for medals at the Olympics, but also the USA, Sweden, Spain and Denmark can interfere in the match. American Steffen Peters rode last week's Grand Prix new personal record (80.42%) at The Dressage Getaway festival, Florida and Danish Helgstrand has just received a new Grand Prix horse Tacolando Triple, while danish Anna Kasprzak debuted yesterday with over 75.39% in the Grand Prix on her new horse Donnperignon, who recently has been on the German national team wit Christoph Koschelh.
No riders, however, is selected for the Olympics yet, but it is however indisputable that there will be dressage, of high, high quality in London and everyone wants to see "There Wunderhengst Totilas" on the course.
