Seraphim12 Foundation Urges Attendees to ActMarch 30, 18:01
Wednesday night, the Seraphim12 Foundation hosted a cocktail reception and dinner at Graffito South in Wellington, FL, for guests, friends and supporters. All were asked to sign letters to their state representatives, Congress and the President and Mrs. Barack Obama. The letters clarified the need to support the H.R 2966: The American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act of 2011 and S. 1176: The American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act of 2011.
Mason Phelps, President of Phelps Media Group Inc., International, introduced the Seraphim12's Manda Kalimian and Pamela Polk to the guests. Kalimian and Polk stepped forward to explain their vision and mission to the party, strongly encouraging the group to take a stand to support America's horses against slaughter in this country. They also stressed the importance of volunteering and raising awareness-one of the most important goals of the Seraphim12 Foundation-and to increase involvement and spread the word.
The atmosphere grew heavy as the Seraphim12 team presented a moving, short video to the attendees. It depicted how the horse has been instrumental in the history and success of the United States, pointing out the lack of awareness revolving around equine neglect, abuse and slaughter. The video concluded with an inspiring scene from the movie Seabiscuit, where actor, Tobey McGuire in the role of Red Pollard, narrates a scene explaining how an unwanted horse positively impacted so many lives. Attendees watched in silence and the room erupted in applause when the video reached its conclusion. (To view video, click on the link below:
"All of our lives have been influenced by horses. We wouldn't be the people we are today without horses. Tell your friends. Have your friends tell someone. We have to try for them, they try so hard for us!" urged Kalimian.
